love your lymph

If you read my blog on why I began using castor oil packs, it will be no surprise to you that I’m focusing on supporting my lymphatic system. The lymphatic manages fluid levels in the body, filters out bacteria and houses types of white blood cells. As a part of our immune system, the more optimally our lymphatic system functions, the better off our body will be at fighting off potential infections. Our lymph only moves when we move, so this is why incorporating daily movement & exercise is a key part of a wellness lifestyle!

Here are a few things I’m researching & incorporating in order to love on my lymphatic system…

  1. Rebounders— The rebounder, also known as a mini-trampoline, applies weight and movement to every cell, causing the entire body to become strong, more flexible, and healthier. I first took note of using rebounders for their health benefits in 2020 when I did the 4-day “Unleash the Power Within” workshop with Tony Robbins. He swears by their benefits, and even incorporates them daily as a part of his morning routine!

The process of rebounding is about jumping up and down. It might seem simple, but there are a lot of powerful benefits. Your body is made up of 75 trillion cells. When you jump up and down on the rebounder, your 75 trillion cells are flexing 100 times per minute, which helps to strengthen each cell in the body. This is important because cells have toxicity, so when you jump up and down, your body is excreting toxins, which then get eliminated by your lymphatic system!

Here is one I’m eyeing up: https://amzn.to/3IAkZ8q

  2. Dry brushing— Dry skin brushing is the practice of whisking a bristled brush over dry skin in an effort to knead out potential blockages of lymph flow. Benefits of dry brushing may include stimulating the lymphatic system, exfoliating the skin, removing toxins, increasing circulation and energy, and reducing cellulite.

If you’d like to take up this practice, search for a video on best practice techniques. I like to remember to simply brush all over my body in the direction of my heart. This is the dry brush I’ve had for a few years now: https://amzn.to/43lYa1M , and I just recently started using it religiously again each day before showering.

  3. Bras without underwires, or no bra at all

Did you know that women who don’t wear a bra are 22% LESS likely to get breast cancer than those who do?  Or that some women who have stopped wearing bras have experienced a major decrease in neck and shoulder pain and vanishing of fibrocystic lumps in the breast tissue?

I am a girl with large breasts. I have been wearing a bra non-stop (even around the house) for as long as I can remember. And now I regret it!

Why? Tight bands and the use of underwire is very constricting to the lymphatic system. It can cause blockages in lymph flow, leading to congestion that inhibits our bodies’ ability to clear damaged cells. Going braless (or at least without underwire) allows breasts to swing and bounce naturally as you move, which pumps the lymphatic fluid and allows the body to naturally detox the tissue.

Without the constant support of a bra, your chest muscles will have to activate and support the breast tissue. The result? Perkier breasts over time….and I’d call that a win!

As an alternative, I’ve been using CAKES under my t-shirts and with my loose-fitting lounge bras. They’re just enough to keep the girls from popping out too much, and they’re made from medical-grade plastic. The best part is, the more you sweat, the more they conform to your body, so you don’t have to worry about them sliding off at that summer BBQ!

Check out CAKES covers here. Use code CAROLLYN for 10% off!
